Diawa TDR 3012

I purchased this reel last September after always having Shimano Stradics for my feeder/carp fishing but I have owned Diawa tackle in the past and I really liked the look of this reel so I gave into temptation and left the tackle shop with one. The next day I decided to give It the test I went up to my local lake which has a healthy stock of old strain carp which I call bullets as that’s what they go like, so I set up a simple floater rig as they where surface feeding  within in ten minutes I had attached myself to one that tore off at 100 mph towards the island I dipped the rod and tightened up and in and instance turned the fish the drag let line when required and sounds extremely strong no slip, after a short while a pristine old common carp broke the surface which weighed 12lb. I carried on and after 2 hours fishing I had landed a string of fish to 14lb so all in all this is more than a capable Commercial/feeder reel I love it. As a reel goes is very well put together using the latest light metals and gearing available and the drag is so ultra-precise it is unbelievable not only giving you ultimate control over hard fighting fish but also enables the use of fine hooks and low diameter lines . It has all the latest Features from Diawa which included the air bail system and twist buster 2 Technology to make cast and retrieve an ease and prevent line twist.  Basically this is one sorted reel and it copes extremely well when put up against the likes of the Stradics etc if not out performs them in some areas so can pick one up have a feel and I am sure you wont leave your tackle shop without one .

The price of this reel is £174.99 rrp but can be found cheaper if you shop around. Its little brother the  TD-R 2508 is also available this is more of a float/lighter feeder/ledger work but is more than capable of coping with modern commercial fishing as well.
