TACKLE AND GUNS TRADE SHOW 2007

A friend invited me to this show on arrival I found a well-organized and catered event, on entering, the main display area was very impressed with what I saw, and I managed to have a look at some of the latest Fishing tackle and baits to be hitting the market very soon. It was a very well laid out affair with everything on display clearly visible and the prices listed on each item, it was also nice to have a chat with the likes of Darren cox, Tommy Pickering, Danny Fairbrass to name just a few.

Due to the rule of no photography inside the buildings, I have no images available of the show but I have various images and information on some of the newest products to be hitting the shelves soon. Below is just a sample of what is coming out from the numerous companies that attended.

Preston Innovations

Preston as usual are releasing some brilliant products such as a new range of poles covering every body’s angling requirements whether you are a new comer or a top professional, there was also a new more compact version of the already top selling Space station and a new x5 box and various on box attachments for these seat boxes. They also had a new range of carbon active rods called the (C Series) on display which is aimed at commercial fishing this includes a 13 foot float and a 12 foot feeder rod. The other items that interested me on the day were the new Celsius boots, dri-fish waterproof over trousers, the new pellet waggler floats, and the revamped hard case luggage range. Overall Preston has raised the bar again with some great innovations.

Korum

Korum had several new products on display including a new rod range called 3G and specific rods aimed at the specimen carp angler. Also new was there new Ruck bag, which is a ruck saw which attaches to the original and lightweight korum chairs this was simply brilliant. Also displayed where some new design quiver and made up rod bags. In addition, a new range of quick melt PVA and some new landing nets where also displayed. Like Preston there sister company they just keep releasing brilliant innovative products to help today’s modern angler be comfortable and at the top of there game. Overall, there are some great new products for 2008 coming your way from Korum.

Bait Tech

Bait tech is releasing several new bait products for 2008 including new ground bait called MOJO this is another ground bait containing pure fishmeal and soluble fishmeals. Also new is the introduction of a range of soft hooker pellets and mini bolies aimed at the Match scene for commercial fishing. There are also three new liquid additives and for the specimen carp angler canned tiger nuts, which looked good, and some 8mm pre drilled halibut pellets (perfect for the pellet waggler). This company is continuing to grow its already greatly received collection of bait products for today’s modern angling community, well done Bait tech.

 Diawa

I only managed a quick look at the Diawa stand but two products that caught my eye where the new range of Spectron 2 rods and a carbon throwing stick. The rods looked the business with quality-finished blanks decorated with the latest high quality guides and whippings and quality fitted reel seats combined with a non-locking action blank, which seems to bend seamlessly all the way through to the handle. The inclusion of a carbon throwing stick to there already well developed specimen carp range was a nice touch especially as this was unlike other throwing sticks. The stick itself was unbelievably light weight it was like holding a feather in your hand  it just had no weight but when squeezed it was still extremely strong and rigid. On what I saw it, looks like Diawa are continuing to design and build top quality pieces of kit.

Maver

The Maver stand was very interesting there was not a single bit of match gear on display, instead they where debuting there Specimen carp range which is a new venture for Maver but on what I saw they may well be onto a winner. They had a range of carp rods ranging from £29.99 to £300+ but do not be foiled into thinking that this are cheap budget rods because there not. These rods are on par if not better than rods costing twice as much in the shops the luggage was well made and robust and had some great features. Also I was shocked at how little some of these products cost considering there quality for example there was a weigh sling this looked like it should  retail for £60+ but I think it was retailing @ £19.99 or less, simply incredible.  So to conclude well done Maver looks like they may have a few of the other Carp companies worried.

Sonu Baits

Sonu baits like Bait tech have stormed into the bait market and are really coming up with the goods in the shape of some great new baits. They have added some more variants of its current ranges and added some new products to the ranges as well. They have now added two new flavors, strawberry and monster crab to there (S) pellet range and a matching feed pellet and ground bait based on the original (S) pellet. The new products released are a 2.5kg tin of large ready cooked hemp and there own branded tin of sweet corn plus the inclusion of some specialist type ground baits as well.

 Korda Developments

Korda as usual had several new products and replacements for its existing range these included. A braid stripping tool and some super sharp scissors called razors for cutting braid. The changes to there current products where are mainly cosmetic. The companies spods collection and marker floats now come in a weed green color rather than black but the spods themselves also now have there attaching strings mad out of a flexible coated braid material of what I could work out which is rated to a 45lb test. They have also introduced a new rocket shaped spod for longer distances called the sky liner; this is can be purchased as a set with a matching marker float or on its own. Korda have also revamped there PVA funnel web and string range which is now color coded for ease of selection on purchasing and now only includes the 4 season range as the 3 season range is to be discontinued they also had a few other bits and bobs which will also be available for the coming year.
