MY PRESTON SPACE STATION SEAT BOX

Preston Space station

I first saw this new seat box in November 2006 and it looked like a very well put together product it ticked all my boxes and my current box at the time was the X3 box from Preston so I new the quality was ok. The reason I was looking at changing was I didn't like the platform set up and the leg adjustment set up was just a bit awkward, so I put my order in over xmas 2006 and waited until February this year for it to arrive . February came and I rushed to my tackle shop when I received the call. On arrival my first impression was oh my god it’s huge and that is going to kill my back, but after taking all the features into account I thought that wasn’t to much of a price to pay. Yes it was heavy but that’s why I ordered the shuttle trolley as well and how many places to you go these days where you carry all your gear on your back you just don't its much easier to load it all on to a trolley and off you go so the weight issue wasn't a problem.

The boxes main features are it is  incredibly sturdy no rocking sensation mainly due to its large footprint when the cassette footplate is extended, and also due to the fact that  it has proper non marking square/rounded extendable legs which are really super strong and rigid even when fully extended  and will cope with the most uneven bank side, the foot plate has a anti slip covering and is so strong standing up on it to land fish is not a problem, the boxes frame work is made up of strong tubular alloy construction which is sprayed a pleasant blue colour for all you tackle tarts out there and comes with a comfortable gel seat which is good for those long sessions. Under the seat it comes with a storage compartment and a single pull out tray under for items of tackle.

The main difference of this box to its predecessor is it as a hollow middle a where briefcase style stacking system is located and stored and can be interchanged with other stacking configurations which will be available soon, The standard stacking configuration comes with a single pull out tray and a deeper compartment section for storing winders and the tray for storing line and Preston in box(s).

The box package comes with a set of pole balling arms / x2 short keep net arms a super side tray and an Outrigger arm so all in all for the retail price of £369 RRP it is a well sorted piece of kit.

My last comment is get the shuttle for those long walks.

Preston space station shuttle trolley

As mentioned above this is the new trolley/barrow system to carry the new space station seat box system as you can see by the picture on the right the box and tackle fit very securely on to the trolley with very little movement once on the move.

So I purchased one and must say it is a solid well built bit of kit it fits the box perfectly with the footplate extended it has a generous amount of room for tackle and net bags. Due to the tight fitment of box to trolley the seat box doesn't try and fall off every 2 minutes whilst on your way to your peg. It also looks like it will fit the other range of x boxes from Preston as well. The trolley can easily be broken down in several parts for easy storage. Overall this is a must if you buy a Space station.
