Korum Quick Stops

These are a great little gadget they have completely changed my fishing with regards to hair rigs. They basically do away for the need of a hair stop  they are tied on to the hook length first then the knotless knot is tied as usual , they are pointed at one end and hollow at the other the bait is then mounted by using the quick stop special needle by inserting it into the hollow end of the stop and then pushing it through the bait , once through the bait pull stop from needle and turn to its sits like a normal stop  and there it is a very quick way of hair rigging baits . (see pictures of how to attach one to a hair rig)

If you use this product for solid baits such as boilies or hard pellets drill those first as the stops are not strong enough to be pushed through directly.  Try this in your match fishing on commercials the time you save will put more fish in the net.

Preston Stotz

These little beauties are a god send I have always struggled with styles so when this came out I had to try them. The shots themselves are very well made and are all identical  to each other they are barrel shaped and come with a deep cut ridge for accurate line placement and are available from sizes 8 -13 they are a cross between a style and a shot.

As a product I am pleased to report that they are superb in use from silvers to commercial fishing , they really come into there own when used on commercial pole rigs due to there barrel shape they don’t ping of the line when bagging carp and will attach to even the thickest lines e.g. 0.23 mm.

Gamakatsu Pellet hooks

I have been using these pellet hooks from Gamakatsu for about a year now and I have only one thing to say about them amazing  they are probably the hook I use now for 90 % of my commercial fishing  and I also use them for my silver fishing as well . They are quite a fine wire hook but incredibly strong I landed many double figure carp on them and never had one bend out and all have had good hook holds which is mainly due to the wide gape and very Sharpe point. As the name suggests they are perfect for pellet fishing but are suitable for a variety of baits,  They come in sizes from 20-10  the smaller sizes I use in winter or when bites are hard to come by and are ideal for fishing maggots  when pellets aren’t working , the larger sizes 16 upwards are my summer bagging hooks ideal for up in the water or on the deck fishing.

The hooks cost £0.99 rrp and are available from most tackle agents so give them a go!  Check out the entire range of Gamakatsu hooks that are available as there are many more quality patterns available to try.

Preston Powerline

I have used this line for 3 years now and must say it is now one of the only lines I use for my pole fishing and feeder hook lengths, it is supple has a good knot strength  and is clear coated line and doesn’t suffer to much from shot damage. I personally have landed by Personal best carp on this line weighing 20lb I used a method feeder on a match feeder rod using 0.21mm diameter power line so I know it is capable of producing the results I need.
